With the recent news of gay marriage, the post here on oppo and what not.. it really got me thinking. I am a gay auto enthusiast and never once have I received back-lash from oppo or the car community, hell.. I got more back-lash for hating the FR-S and for loving the Mercedes R-Class. I’m not one to flaunt my sexuality (I mean do you go around announcing how straight you are?) It means a lot guys, you guys are accepting and very inviting. Thank you from me and others alike. It really really means a lot to me.

Nah, the thing is Oppo is a very nice place, most of us don’t give a bloody fuck about your sexuality. And I think most of is think that you should be allowed to love whomever you want.

I’m sure there are some people here that don’t like gay marriage, but they keep quiet about it.

Glad you feel accepted. The car world, and the world as a whole, are full of people from all walks of life, different views, and different sexualities.

I hope the day comes when being LGBTQ is just another thing, like nothing’s thought of it. We’re all people, one and the same, no matter what. How we identify does not change who we are or how we live. It doesn’t affect anybody else.

We welcome you with open arms regardless of who you are or who you love.

Gay or straight, black or white, an auto enthusiast is an auto enthusiast, nothing less, nothing more. Glad you feel welcome here! I’d like to add that my brother-in law is gay and both of us being huge sports fans and car guys, I’d say my wife excluded I have a greater bond with him than I do with anyone else in her family. At the end of the day it really doesn’t matter what someone prefers.

Now take back what you said about the FR-S, those are fighting words. For real, that’s enough to get your teeth knocked out.

I lurked in the fall/winter of 2007, and started posting on Off Topic around January of ‘08. And in February of that year I met the guy who became my husband. Needless to say, the past seven-and-a-half years have been good.

When I came out as trans, Oppo was the first community I came out to. I didn’t know what I expected, but the next morning I woke up and saw enough love to make me cry.

And now that bigoted commenters have taken a hike, I’m happy to say that I am back!!

$20-25k New for what you get now would be ok. $19k would be fantastic, but that’s too much to ask from a car who’s platform isn’t shared with any other vehicles, and won’t have the volume to make up for cutting into the margin. Toyo-by kinda painted themselves into a corner here...:(

The real crime though is that it’s not even that much more that is needed to make $30k more acceptable. a 3L 8.5k RPM flat 4 making 250 or so would be a discount FR boxster alternative, and you can likely pad out that MSRP to $35k after options if the car had that kind of reputation. A little bit of added value could go a long way for the GT86, but it’s too bad that the folks in charge of it don’t see things that way.

Even though I think it’s overpriced, I’d rather it didn’t disappear from the market altogether.

During that notification spam night maybe a month ago (idk if you saw it) some people were recommending literally every single post made by some other people. Apparently my first post on here was from 2012, but that was after the move to Kinja. So everything before Kinja is gone.

I think the only way to do it is to go to your profile and keep scrolling down and clicking “more stories” until you get to the beginning. The beginning of Kinja, that is.

Hmmm I guess we don't have to fight. I know Toronto like the back of my hand! My office is located in Toronto so I’m there Monday through Friday. It’s a pretty great city, lots of things to do.

As for the B-class, a European fellow told me “you don’t want one of these, it drives like Suzuki.” You can take that however you please.

Yes, this is a great place. I too am gay and I was very worried about saying anything at first cause you never know with some people. But one day I posted a picture of hot guys with a car cause some one had done hot girls with cars. I was so excited to feel accepted by the peoples of Oppo.
